Welcome to the Pink Rose Calendar Fund...

My mission, my passion, my obsession

I don't know how we got here or who is to blame. And I don’t know how to get out of it but women today are never satisfied with how they look.

Either we think we are too tall, too thin, too flabby or too fat. If our hair is curly we want it straight, if our hair is straight we want it curly. We are constantly searching for ways to improve. No-one looks in the mirror and says “Wow! You couldn’t be any better looking."

If that's how we feel about ourselves when we are well, what happens when we get sick? What happens if we get cancer and lose our hair while undergoing aggressive treatment?

"It can be devastating" (J.S.H 2006)

This is where I became involved. I have been hairdressing for many years and in 2004 I decided to change direction and become involved with clients with hair loss, mainly ladies undergoing chemotherapy as this is so very close to my heart.

I realised very quickly how demanding, upsetting, inspiring and wonderfully rewarding my job had become. I feel privileged to be able to advise and help women going through this traumatic time. My advice is not medical but practical. Advice from someone who really cares very much about how women feel and look.

Furthermore, within my business, as with any business, we have lots of letters and people asking for donations for various worthwhile charities. Shortly before the Pink Rose Appeal started I decided to support one charity. In a mad moment I contacted them and told them that I would raise £1,000.00 for them. Having never raised money before, my afterthought was heck!!! How the hell is a small business like mine EVER going to raise that sort of money? I am crazy – what have I promised? – I did not know where or how to begin...

To date Megs have raised not just £1,000.00 but within a staggering six month period, £10,000.00 towards the Pink Rose Appeal which is now known as The Pink Rose Fund.

My biggest mission, passion, obsession is to produce a calendar by September. This calendar will not be about cancer. It will be a calendar depicting images of women and their strengths. It is about people overcoming trials and tribulations of life, it is about the feel good factor, it is sunny, it is happy, it is inspirational. These images will bring a smile to your face, showing the natural spirit of a woman, everything in life that is important to her and anecdotes to compliment them.

As I said, this calendar is not about cancer. It just so happens that all my models either had cancer or are undergoing treatment for it. For all these extraordinary women this is their calendar.
