Tell me more about Pink Rose Calendar Fund...
We aim to produce an exceptionally high quality calendar. Each page will have a professional photograph with an inspirational caption attached to it which most people will be able to relate to.
This calendar aims to be a "work of art". It will not be a run of the mill calendar. It will be thought provoking and meaningful. To help capture the sentiments of the calendar we have been offered the services – free of charge – of an international photographer who has been commissioned on large scale projects all over the world and is well known for his artistic flair.
This calendar is about fetching people together as a finale to the feel good factor. Although it is expected that money will be raised from the sale of the calendars, the main objective is to bring women together for a common cause. To bring confidence, positivity, strength to women in the calendar who have been through cancer surgery and treatment; hope and inspiration to women newly diagnosed.
We have an amazing Breast Care Unit in Grimsby for which to date the people of Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the surrounding areas have raised £250,000.00 in order to make this one of the best facilities in the country. The money was raised and pledged within 6 months. The Pink Rose Appeal pulled the community together on an unprecedented scale. Their spirit and the generosity of local people and businesses was both astounding and humbling.
Following the hugely successful Pink Rose Appeal in 2007 in which the local community raised £250,000.00 to provide the finishing touches to the interior of the new breast unit and renew some of the equipment – Grimsby breast unit has become known nationally as one of the best breast units in the country. The promise to the community at the time was that all referrals to the breast unit from GPs would be seen within 2 weeks. As a direct result of the appeal reaching its target the unit has surpassed this goal and now sees all patients within a few days. This is unmatched elsewhere in the country and means that for patients with breast cancer, the cancer is being picked up at an earlier stage.
